Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of coughs and colds. RSV infections usually get better by themselves, but can sometimes be serious for older adults.

Our service is available for anyone from the age of 60 years and above or anyone aged 18 and above who is at increased risk. You will only need 1 dose of this vaccine to be protected.

The vaccine protects against infection with RSV and reduces risk of developing serious illnesses such as pneumonia and bronchiolitis which can cause severe breathing problems.

The RSV vaccine is available as a private service and for free on the NHS if:
you’re pregnant, aged 75 - 79
turned 80 after 1 September 2024.

The RSV vaccine is not advised, if:
You’ve had a serious allergic reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine or an ingredient in the vaccine.
You are currently unwell with a high fever in this case, the vaccination may be postponed until you have recovered.
